Crown and Anchor

The origins of Crown and Anchor lie in the 18th Century where it was tradtionally played for gambling purposes by sailors in the British Royal Navy and also in the British merchant and fishing fleets.

Popular throughout the Channel Islands it is also played copiously in Bermuda. The game, however, is subject to strict legal codes of conduct hence its appearance at Liberation Day and the agricultural shows in Guernsey as well as the annual Cup Cricket Match in Bermuda.
