Specsavers is once again hosting the Liberation Tea Dance and Hangar Ball in the Sir John Loveridge Hall at Beau Sejour on Tuesday 8 May 2012. The venue will be bedecked in bunting, flags, 1940s memorabilia and lights creating a colourful and nostalgic atmosphere of the joy and celebration of Guernsey's freedom from five long dark years of Occupation.
Liberation Tea Dance: Tuesday 8 May, Beau Sejour, 1.00pm - 4.00pm
The famous Syd Lawrence Orchestra will be performing as well as War Time singers Heather Marie McHale and Peter Wayre. Viv The Spiv and Laura Piper will add further colour and character along with magicians and jugglers who will intermingle with guests. The afternoon Tea Dance starts at 1pm and guests will be treated to traditional Guernsey tea with sandwiches, Guernsey gache and cake.
Liberation Hangar Ball: Tuesday 8 May, Beau Sejour, 7.00pm - 12.30am
The Liberation Hangar Ball commences at 7.00pm and is a special opportunity for those who lived and served their country through the terrible World War II years to reminisce and remember loved ones lost. It is also a chance to celebrate Guernsey's freedom; a priceless commodity that can never be taken for granted.
The annual Best Dressed Competition will also take place at the Liberation Hangar Ball with prizes for the Best Dressed Individual, the Best Dressed Couple and the Best Dressed Group.
Both the Specsavers Liberation Tea Dance and Hangar Ball will conclude with a giant sing-a-long of Sarnia Cherie!
